13 Weeks

I got the results from my EKG. It confirmed that I do have an abnormal heartbeat.  The thyroid test came back normal.  I have an appointment with the cardiologist on November 9th.

I have been very sick this week.  I started getting a cough last Sunday, and now I feel so much worse.  I caught a cold from the kids at Head Start.  I have a very painful cough, lots of congestion and wheezing that is wreaking havoc on my asthma.  I can’t sleep because I can’t breath through my nose, and when I breathe through my mouth my throat stings.  My throat is just killing me.  It hurts to drink or eat anything.  I have a low grade fever which I’m keeping down with Tylenol.  My heart palpitations are worse no doubt due to the stress on my body because of this cold.  And of course, I am still nauseous and throwing up.  I hope this is not putting additional stress on the baby.

I have a baby check-up tomorrow morning.  I’ll make sure to ask them to check the baby’s heartbeat to make sure everything is ok.  I will tell them about my upper respiratory infection but I don’t think there is anything I can take for it.  I think the only antibiotics that are safe to take during pregnancy are penicillin and I’m allergic to penicillin.

Next weekend is Halloween and I hope I feel better enough to go out and enjoy it with Faith.  She has been outside with daddy this week doing yard work.  I wish I could be out there with them, but I’ve been swamped with homework and miserable because of this cold.  I’m so glad that Faith is not sick yet though, and she is enjoying the fall weather :)

This is what baby looks like at 13 weeks…

Your baby’s tiny fingertips have fingerprints, her veins and organs are clearly visible through her still-thin skin, and her body is starting to catch up with her head — which makes up just a third of her body size now. If you’re having a girl, she now has more than 2 million eggs in her ovaries. Your baby is almost 3 inches long (about the size of a pea pod) and weighs nearly an ounce.
