Well, this week has been a fairly bad week :( I just got back from my baby checkup, and although my non-stress tests are fine, and my blood pressure and blood sugar is good … my belly is measuring at 38 weeks :( Not at 37 weeks like it should. So it makes me worry that Josephine is packing on more weight than she should. The dr is not worried at all. As for myself, I’m confused, because I lost another pound. I weigh almost 150 now. How can I be losing weight, yet my belly is bigger, measuring a full week ahead of time? So… next week we will be discussing induction. I may be induced now at 38 weeks instead of at 39 weeks.
The dr also checked my cervix and I am 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced with a -2 station. She said this is good. But I wish I could be further along. A -2 station means the baby is low, but not fully engaged. If the baby is fully engaged, I would be at a 0 station and that means that labor is right around the corner. I’m sad because I just know I won’t be going into labor naturally. I’m again going to have to be induced just like I was with Faith. I know it will be a long a painful labor, and I’m now age 40. Can I take it? Induction is always harder and increases the risk of complications or needing a c-section. My body just doesn’t want to go into labor. I know right now I’m only 37 weeks, and still have plenty of time for labor to start… but I just don’t think it will happen during my 38th week. The dr said I could wait to be induced at almost 40 weeks, but they just don’t suggest it. If they don’t suggest that, than I don’t want that either. I’ll never forgive myself if something goes wrong, or if the baby gets too big that she gets stuck during delivery and ends up injured.

What baby looks like at 37 weeks…
Your due date is very close now, but doctors don’t consider your baby “full term” until 39 weeks. Spending the next two weeks in the womb allows your baby’s brain and lungs to fully mature. Many babies have a full head of hair at birth, with locks from 1/2 inch to 1 1/2 inches long. But don’t be surprised if your baby’s hair isn’t the same color as yours. Dark-haired couples are sometimes thrown for a loop when their children come out as blonds or redheads, and fair-haired couples have been surprised by Elvis look-alikes. At this point your baby weighs 6 1/3 pounds and measures a bit over 19 inches, head to heel (about the size of a bunch of Swiss chard).
More bad news, Aaron hit a deer this morning on his way to work.
He’s fine thank God. My poor Geo Metro is all banged up. I have to call our auto insurance and see what they can do. They will probably consider it totaled. It is an old beat up car. 1997 with over 210,000 miles on it. We won’t get enough money for it to get another used car. Aaron can’t drive that car to work anymore because the windshield and headlight is broke. We have no money for another used car… and Aaron just got laid off today :(
So… an induction and hospital bills are in our near future, we lost a car, and Aaron won’t be working for a couple weeks. We just paid our home and auto insurance, and our property taxes, so our checking account is low because of that. When it rains it pours. Not sure what we will do, but trust that God is in control.
Lots and lots of changes taking place all at once. New baby just around the corner, my final semester is coming to an end. My graduation date has been set for May 13th. We are house-hunting and may move soon if we find the right home for us. This summer will be a challenge but also an adventure. We just have to stay positive and allow God to lead the way!
